At the moment, the education reform of other courses far outpaces that of track and field course of Physical Education in College and Universities in Heilongjiang province. The majority of track and field teachers and students majoring in physical education think that the current track and field courses are boring. As one of the track and field sports items, outward bound is not only highly consistent with track and field sports in sportsmanship, but also in cultivating and training talents. The integration of outward bound into track and field courses can change the existing problems such as single-mode and outdated teaching method as well as low student initiative. To this end, this article analyses the feasibility and necessity of introducing outward bound into track and field course of physical education in colleges and universities and also designs outward bound courses. Aiming at providing theoretical basis and data for the introduction of outward bound to track and field course of physical education in colleges and universities in Heilongjiang province, we can draw conclusions from the study as follows:China’s Ministry of Education has issued a series of guiding documents concerning reforms of track and field courses in colleges and universities, all of which encourage and support the introduction of outward bound into track and field courses. At the moment, many colleges and universities in China have already put this idea into practice and achieved good results. However, the track and field courses in colleges and universities in Heilongjiang province still remain the traditional courses such as “three throw items”(javelin, discus, shot put), “three races”(hurdles, one hundred meters race, medium and long distance race), and “three jumps”(high jump, long jump, triple jump), which are monotonous and boring with low students satisfaction. The traditional teaching mode of track and field courses in colleges and universities in Heilongjiang province has become a limitation for the development of track and field curriculum system, delaying the reform of track and field courses. It is highly feasible to introduce outward bound into track and field courses in colleges and universities in Heilongjiang province. First things first, outward bound is very well-received among students majoring in physical education. Secondly, enough faculties for it are available. Finally, training venues and equipment for outward bound are of great flexibility. Meanwhile, it is also very necessary to introduce outward bound into track and field courses in colleges and universities in Heilongjiang province. Firstly, most students in colleges and universities now are the only child in their families born in the 1990 s. They need outward bound to enhance their psychological quality. Secondly, students need outward bound to develop team spirit as individualism is universally existing in their minds. Finally, there is no doubt that the introduction of outward bound can enrich and improve the current monotonous track and field courses in colleges and universities in Heilongjiang province. The optimal mode for track and field courses in colleges and universities in Heilongjiang province is: regarding teamwork as the top priority of outward bound, taking all available facilities into consideration. It will be better if we can combine outward bound with traditional training programs with traditional training programs accounting for a larger proportion. Dividing teaching method is preferred, that is to say, certain part of physical education class can be given to outward bound activities.
