Environmental issues have received great importance and have become a hotspot topic on the internet. Due to the absence of environmental protection awareness related courses in university, environmental information spread through the internet has a great impact on undergraduates’ awareness. Undergraduates are the decision-makers, administrators and executives of social, economical and technological development. Therefore, their environmental protection awareness will greatly affect the harmonious development of China’s society, economy and environment.This study, with the framework of communication effect as the basis, through quantitative and qualitative study, undergraduates’ concern over online environmental information, undergraduates’ cognition about the status quo of environment, undergraduates’ environment protection awareness and the influence of different types of environment information on undergraduates have been investigated.It comprehensively explores the impact on undergraduates’ environmental protection awareness exerted by environment information spread through internet. This thesis begins with part one, which introduces the background, significance, related concepts and literature review of the study; followed by part two, empirical research based on data, which is gained through group interview and surveying; part three has held theoretical discussion based on the data and put forward suggestions to cultivate and enhance undergraduates’ environmental protection awareness.According to the analysis of the survey results, environment information spread through internet has a great impact on undergraduates’ environmental protection awareness. Different types of environmental information have different impacts on the undergraduates. Meantime, the subjects tend to blame the government for environmental pollution problems. Therefore, the subjects play a passive role in response to environmental problems.
