Analysis On Structuring Process Of Cohesive Force In Natives Association Of University Students And Its Influence

Natives association of university students is informal group formed with university students from different sources of origin and organized in flexible ways, aiming for ideological exchange and information communication. Cohesive force can attract internal members of one group together and the special social mentality is played to the extreme in natives association of university students. Natives associations of university students are widely existent in institutions of higher learning with strong cohesive force and have more and more important influence to learning and life of students. By depth interview with 13 members of natives association, the research analyzed the structuring process of its cohesive force and found out the influence of such cohesive force on university students. After the research, the author found the structuring process of cohesive force in natives association of university students can be divided into three stages: start to form cohesive force by looking for native accent, spiritual ballast, geographical factors, naturally formed “circle of friends” and influence of herd mentality; based on multi-dimensional structuring of cohesive force, upgrade perceptual structuring to rational structuring to maintain cohesive force; finally, regular parties make the distance of members closer and trust each other to consolidate cohesive force. The research also shows the influence of cohesive force of natives association to university students may be positive or negative: on the one hand, natives association is conducive for “socializing” university students, as it invisibly accumulates social capital for university students and provides internship and employment opportunities as the “spiritual soul” of their study and life. On the other hand, it disturbs normal learning and study of university students, adds burden to their finance, obstructs wide exchange of university students, and produces unnecessary misleading for them and even mountain-strong hold mentality, all of which obstruct the construction of harmonious campus.
