Mind map is a visual tool for the knowledge representation and an effective way to improve memory and learning style. Mind map can help learners learn new knowledge, weed out irrelevant information, keep the key knowledge, help to find the connection between the old and new knowledge, and thus form a knowledge network, and ultimately accelerate the process of knowledge acquisition. English words are one of the most basic elements in English learning, which play a decisive role in English learning. So, this thesis attempts to apply the online mind map Mindmeister in high school English words teaching, in order to explore English words memory model under the mind map promotion, help students construct their own English words maps and improve students’ ability of memorizing English words, English words extraction or reproduction.This research mainly fulfills the following tasks:First: the thesis has collected and arranged the research related to mind map at home and abroad, and defined the related terms, such as mind map, words and vocabulary, memory, English words map and so on and theoretically expounded the feasibility combination between mind map and the memory of English words.Second: the thesis has summarized and concluded the creation and features of the online mind map Mindmeister, explored the design of the structure composition of English words map according to the characteristics and relationship of the English words, summarized the application model of the online mind map Mindmeister in the words teaching.Third: the thesis has used the method of contrast experiment to verify the effectiveness of the words memory under the online mind map Mindmeister promotion and collected the actual teaching cases.Fourth: the thesis has used the experimental data to verify the hypothesis, analyzed and interpreted the experimental results, and then drawn the experiment conclusion.Based on the contrast experiment, the paper has drawn the following conclusion:English words map can improve the accuracy of students words spelling.English words map can improve the number of the English words extraction or reproduction.English words map can improve students’ interest in learning English words, optimize students’ learning habits and methods, which helps to cultivate and improve the students’ English autonomous learning ability.Finally, the paper has made a summary and reflection of this research, and proposed the further research direction.
