The main goal of chemistry education is to understand the nature of science. The nature of science is throughout the history of science, the presontation way of the history of science influences the teaching way and the students’ understanding of the nature of science. So the research on the presentation of the history of science.plays on Important role in understanding the nature of science. This research aims at analyzing the history of science in sanme verslons of junior and senior middle school chemistry textbooks prossed by Pople’s Education Press(PEP) from the perspothe of the nature of science, and the purpose of this researche is to analyse the situation how the history of science to reflect the nature of solence in the chemistry textbooks.Onthe one hand,it prorldes reference to compling textbook,on the other hand, it shows suggestions to students and teachers for using the chemistry textbooks. On the boals of abundant literature, this paper formed a framework of analyzing the history of chemistry in the textbooks. That is the type of material, the type of learning activity, and thenature of science. With the content analysis method, the authorcarried on a quantitative and qualitative analysis research aboutthe history of chemistry in the textbooks (PEP). Finally, this paperput forwards some suggestions for the editing of the textbook, theteachers’ applying and the students’ learning of the history ofchemistry. The main findings of this paper are these:(1) the types ofmaterial are the same in the textbooks, the types of learningactivities and the combination between the material and learningactivities are different in the textbooks, different material andlearning activities reflect different levels of the nature of scienceand emphasis.(2) the contents of the history of science areconsistent in the old version textbooks, and the number ofchemistry history has significantly increased in the new versiontextbooks. All versions textbooks reflect chemistry activities basedon the experimental facts and a lot of temporary chemistryknowledge, but chemistry knowledge contained human’simagination and creation is relatively small, chemistry historycontained scientific law and scientific theory is the least. Thetextbooks do not reflect the other three dimensions of chemistryhistory. In new version textbooks, the level of presenting the natureof science has improved, but is still not high.(3) the chemistryhistory in two old version textbooks of junior high school isuniformed distributed in the text and body text. And in new versiontextbooks, the chemistry history presented in the columns. While inthree new version textbooks, the chemistry history mostly presented in the columns. Presented in the body text always aresimplified contents of chemistry history, in the columns mostly arecontents in detail.
