Teachers, students and teaching material are the three basicelements in the teaching and teaching material is the medium betweenteachers and students. The level of teachers’ understanding and use ofteaching materials play an important role in terms of the teaching effect.This research investigates the physical education teachers’understanding and use of teaching materials in elementary school ofShanxi Province. It aims at improving the level of primary school PEteachers’ understanding and use of teaching materials and then improveelementary school sports teaching quality to reach the purpose ofimproving children’s physical fitness and children’s health level.This research mainly adopts the method of questionnaire survey toanalyze the situation of physical education teachers’ understanding anduse of teaching materials in elementary school of Shanxi Province from four aspects like teaching material understanding, teaching material use,teaching material management and the influence factors of teachingmaterial use effect.The research proves that the situation of physical educationteachers’ understanding and use of teaching materials in elementaryschool of Shanxi Province is good and the level is high. As for theunderstanding of teaching material nature, teachers who use teachingmaterials published by People’s education press, Education science pressand East China Normal university press have a deep and accurateunderstanding. Urban teachers’ recognition of the teaching materialimportance is lower than the rural teachers’. Urban teachers’recognition of embodiment of the teaching material to the studentprinciple status is higher than the rural teachers’. Urban teachers’recognition of embodiment of the embodiment of the teaching materialsto teachers guiding role is higher than the rural teachers’. Urbanteachers’ recognition of new ideas after the curriculum reform is betterthan rural teachers’. In terms of the teaching material structure, thedesign of Education science press’ teaching material is better thanPeople’s education press’ and East China Normal university press’. Interms of the teaching content, the content of Education science press’teaching material is worse than People’s education press’ and EastChina Normal university press’. Moreover, the proportion collocation of teaching difficulty and different sports is more suitable for urbanteachers and the teaching material expanding is better for ruralteachers. In terms of the teaching material effect, People’s educationpress and East China Normal university press’ teaching material effect isobvious to teachers while the Education science press’ teachingmaterial is obvious to students. Urban teachers pay more attention to theeffect of the teaching material to students while the rural teachers paymore attention to the effect of teaching material to teachers.In terms of teachers’ use of the teaching material: Before the class,the titles of teachers are higher, the situation of their adjustment of theteaching material content arrangement order, their mining of theteaching resources and their integration of relevant material resourcesare better. In the classroom teaching, the vast majority of teachersadjust the teaching material content based on the actual teachingsituation, in which advanced elementary school teachers and untitledteachers have the most flexible adjustment of the teaching materialcontent. Teachers can make full use of the resources of randomlygenerated and teachers with teaching experience of11-15years aremost good at using randomly generated resources. After the class,teachers’ use reflections to the teaching material is not good butrelatively speaking, the the titles of teachers are higher, the situation ofthe use reflections to the teaching material is better. Interms of the use and management of teaching material, thesituations of execution effect of teaching materials use system, teachingmaterial use supervision and teaching material use evaluation are notideal. Most teachers think that it is necessary to use specializedtraining materials.Factors effect on the use of textbooks: influence of teachers’personal internal factors thanexternal factors on the use of materials andgreater. Among them, teachers’ teaching concept,teaching ability of thegreatest impact on the teaching material use effect.According to the above conclusions, puts forward correspondingsuggestions.
