The Effective Study Of Chunks Theory Using In The Senior High School English Vocabulary Teaching

Studying English words is always important and difficult, certain vocabulary is the key to English studying and using, the limitation of words will obstruct the development of English skills. This paper through researching and analyzing the chunks teaching theory, establishing the frame of chunks in the senior high school, applying the empirical to verify if this frame can improve the students’ ability to remember vocabulary, and upgrade students’ English comprehensive ability. This paper applies questionnaire, interviewing teachers and students and researching individual cases, conducting an experiment on the small portion of students in the Acheng Senior High School. Using the SPSS to collect statistics and analyze the experimental data at the same time. Based on the experimental results, the author infers the action of chunks theory on the senior English vocabulary is positive, and it is also active on the increases of students’ vocabulary and the memory of English learning, the chunks theory can also increase the students’ English comprehensive ability.As the development of globalization, English has been a quite important communicative language, and the English teaching now is going ahead to improve the students’ English communicative ability. For this situation, English vocabulary is no longer to be seen as isolated words, but a communicative language which has actual significance. Based on the new understanding of vocabulary teaching, the Chunks Theory shows its advantage. It doesn’t mean only one word; it contains fixed phrases, idioms based on the language habits, and all kinds of multi-word structure. The birth of Chunks Theory brings new angle of view for the vocabulary teaching, also brings profound influence on the high school vocabulary teaching.
