The research object of this paper is the current situation of the 8kinds of representative amateur tennis competitions held in Wenzhou from 2011 to 2013. In order to be clear about the current situation of Wenzhou amateur tennis competitions, the author has adopted the methodology of documentary, expert interview, questionnaire, logical analysis and so on. Five perspectives are under investigation — basic information, organizational forms, the athletes, the coaches and the judgers, so as to conclude the traits, regular patterns and problems. For the problems which have been found in the investigation, corresponding suggestions and advice are offered. Conclusions are listed as follows.1.Wenzhou amateur tennis competitions operate quite well and every year there are 8 different sorts of matches. The number of participants which majorly located in city center with few in country-level cities keeps increasing. The time management of the games in the whole year is not balanced mainly because of the holidays and seasons. There are different sizes of tennis courts and can meet the demands of games.2.Wenzhou amateur tennis association organizes units, clubs and individuals to take part in contests. The competition system is flexible,but it lacks the support from administrative departments and units. The contest adopts mixed competition system with high competitiveness:single round robin matches in the first round, knock-out system in the second round.3.The fund of Wenzhou amateur tennis association comes from government funding and corporate sponsorship and the entry fee also contributes part of it. The funds of per match are between 300.000 and100.000. The game structure is quite well-organized and there are 25 tennis associations at city level, 13 affiliated clubs, 7 tennis associations at country level, and 4 college tennis clubs. All of these promote the development of Wenzhou amateur tennis games.4.The players of Wenzhou amateur tennis are mainly adults and middle age persons. Men take 62% and women account for 38%.Theirprofessions diversify. The skill is gained by self-study or learning from each other with less formal training. People who have 2 years of playing take 93% of the whole. The rate of tennis practice is high. There are funding supports. 30% of the athletes have experienced injuries.Participating motivation mainly focus on interest, body building and making friends. And they are quite satisfied with judgers, but they do not have enough understanding of tennis culture.5.The coaches of Wenzhou amateur tennis are highly qualified with good educational background structure. 43% of the coaches have more than 6 years of teaching experiences and 79% of coaches have attended training.6.62% of the coaches are men and 38% are women. 66% are college students with high academic qualifications. Their ages are mainly between 21-30 n with a few years of judging. Only 7% of the coaches are of state-level which mainly are secondary judgers.The suggestions are:1. Promoting the attendance of Wenzhou tennis clubs and the college tennis; enlarge the population of tennis players.2.Creating a good platform and perfect the amateur tennis competition system3.Enhancing media publicity; improving the support from administrative departments; increasing cultural awareness and expanding the influence4.Strengthening the construction of coaches and judgers further5.Attaching great importance to youth training; boosting reserve talent cultivation...
