Improving the quality of professional courses’ teaching in higher education is the urgent demand of contemporary higher education development. The key of the quality of professional courses’ teaching lies in the university students’ learning. But in the reality, college students’ not studying such as skip classes, not like reading,has caused the concerns of people in society. Against this background, the researcher proposed the following problems: What engagement university students put into professional courses? What is the situation of university students of professional course learning ?How the school engagement of professional courses effects the study results?On the basis of part of the existing research both at home and abroad, the researcher compiled into the scale of university student engagement and the questionnaire on students’ learning outcomes, then tested 1003 students who were chose,in order to understanding the basic situation of the university student engagement and learning outcomes. On this basis, the researcher did the further Study into effects of different factors of student engagement on the learning outcomes.Through the collection and analysis, research conclusions are as follows:First of all, the student engagement of professional courses includes behavior engagement, emotional engagement and cognitive engagement. Behavior engagement includes concentration, persistence, participation and studying;Emotional engagement cover the sense of fun, the sense of achievement, nervousness and boredom; the cognitive engagement includes the shallow cognitive engagement, deep cognitive engagement and dependent cognitive engagement.Second, the basic learning situation of university students’ professional course is as follows: 1. The student engagement of professional courses is in a medium level.The behavior engagement and emotional engagement is of good condition, and cognitive engagement is insufficient. At the same time, the engagement level of most students is below the medium and the medium level; 2. The harvest of university student includes more knowledge and several abilities, but not in terms of skills and other abilities better development; 3. The differences of student engagement of professional courses on the grade are significant, and the engagement on behave and emotion are in the same way, but there were no significant difference on the gender,profession and the school.Third, university students’ professional course study into the relationship between different elements and their influence on the outcomes of the study include:1.The student engagement of professional courses has great effect on learning outcomes.The 55.9% variation of learning outcomes on students professional course can be explained by learning input; 2.The behavior engagement into four variables impact on the acquisition of professional knowledge. Concentration, participation, and studying have great influence on students’ professional skills acquired, and participation,studying have a positive effect on the cultivation of students’ ability;3.The sense of fun and the sense of achievement have a positive impact on the development of the specialized knowledge, skills and abilities. Boredom can hinder the role to the development of students in all aspects. Anxiety can,in a certain extent, urge students to learn knowledge and skills;4.The cognitive engagement into three variables will affect students’ professional knowledge and skills acquired. The effect of the deep cognitive engagement is the greatest, and the impact of shallow cognitive engagement is minimal.Only deep cognitive engagement will have a role to the development of students’ ability.
