The new round of curriculum reform is being carried out across the country, geography as an integral part of basic education has been reformed. "Open education", the concept of "quality education" and "new course" of the proposed reforms have a profound impact on the geography curriculum, while improving the role and status of experimental teaching in geography teaching. The new geography curriculum reform actively promote "independent learning, cooperative learning, inquiry learning" approach to learning, but also set forth requirements, for example: "pay attention to explore geographic issues; advocate inquiry-based learning, self-learning and cooperative learning approach to learning; conduct practice of geography, such as geography experiments, observations, surveys, visits and thematic studies. " Geography experimental teaching can not only stimulate student interest in learning geography, but also help students to change the natural way of learning to improve students’ ability, and the ability to abstract specific geographical knowledge, but also help focus Overcoming Difficulties, promote student knowledge to understand and master. This is the traditional way of teaching geography is undoubtedly a major challenge. Because of the influence of traditional concepts of education, high school geography are "liberal arts" category. With the launch of the new curriculum, a growing number of researchers, academics and classroom teachers come to realize the importance of experimental teaching. However, in practical applications of the process and to carry out experiments in teaching, but due to various reasons the way of implementation of the experimental teaching is not so smooth. Over time, the study and implementation of experimental teaching is detrimental for. Therefore, to find the crux of the problem, and for the question to put forward practical strategies for the development of students, to enhance the development and teaching of geography teaching quality is essential.In this paper, the implementation of Kaifeng City high school geography experimental teaching, the use of questionnaires, interviews, comparative analysis method of Kaifeng representative to investigate four high schools, By the results of experimental investigation found that geography teaching high school in Kaifeng problems are : First, schools and education authorities is not enough emphasis on experimental teaching geography; second, teachers experimental teaching awareness and ability is not strong, many teachers do not have the awareness and ability to implement experimental teaching geography experimental teaching, as the school of geography experimental teaching requires less attention and lead teachers will not carry out experimental teaching geography; third, geography experimental teaching instrument configuration is not perfect, it is small school geography laboratory; fourth, geography lessons less heavy task, so was forced to abandon the experimental teaching geography, geography is the Vice Division, teaching hours arrangements have been less, implement geography experimental teaching takes time, so the teacher in order to catch forced to give up the progress of experimental teaching geography; fifth, textbooks designed experiments is limited, and can conduct much stronger, but also restrict the conduct of experimental teaching geography to some extent; the sixth, the evaluation system is not high school geography learning Perfection is a very important reason for teachers and students do not pay attention to geography experiment. By analyzing the current situation and problems, combined with the actual situation and the summary of the survey and interviews with teachers and students on the matters raised some possible suggestions and strategies. Strategies included: first, to increase awareness of schools, education authorities and students, the importance of geography experimental teaching; second, to strengthen teacher training practice and research capacity of universities need to open part of the curriculum targeted at the training of teachers; the third, to improve the experimental teaching resources and time, according to the textbooks and teachers need to arrange their own class to integrate textbooks; fourth, the use of modern information technology for teaching, so that the development of modern information technology, instructional technology to geography experimental teaching provide favorable conditions to carry out; fifth, efforts to update the teaching content to achieve the forefront of technology, innovation and improvements to make it more optimal experimental teaching geography; sixth, perfect for geography experimental teaching evaluation system, to achieve promotion of geographical to carry out experimental teaching and improve the quality of teachers and students’ learning ability.
