Value Transition Of Hui Nationality Of Lanzhou City In The Process Of Urbanization

The Hui nationality is the most widely settled minority in China. So far, the population of Hui nationality is 10,586,078(The sixth national census),among which, more than 4 million live in the northwest of China, while 1.2 million in Gansu province. Especially in the city of Lanzhou, among more than 150000 of minority population and 100000 of Hui nationality population,66% are Hui nationality, and mostly they mix togther with the Han nationality. In a long course of history, the Hui nationality gradually assimilated the habits of the Han, the Mongol, and the Uygur and formed their own traditional culture. The Hui nationality is one of the ten Islam believing ethnic minorities in China and so that the Islam deeply affect the Hui nationality’s life, economic, cultural, etc. The Islam is very important to the formation and development of Hui nationality. However, driven by the modernization, China’s urbanization process has became a inevitable trend and the processis in a high seepd. This phenomenon has huge impact on society and residents live in cities, especially on the minority’s culture, economic, demographic, religious, etc. This change has pushed a powerful influence on the inherent culture and ideas of the society of the Hui nationality. Therefore, a systematic analysis of the Hui nationality’s traditional customs and the ideas changes in urbanization processis imperative, and it’s also an important content of our country’s national work.This article has studied and analyzed the phenomenon that Hui nationality’s values changet during the urbanization process in LanZhou and put forward the corresponding countermeasure, so as to better grasp the process of the Hui nationality’s values change in the urbanization. The changes in the minorities’traditional culture and values have affact of the national stability and development. This paper is based on a big environment of the urbanization, from the viewpoint of psychology, sociology and ethnology, depending on the detailed field survey data, focused on the value changes before and after the urbanization process of Hui nationality in Lanzhou,Gansu province. Through the methods of investigation and interview, to collect the first hand informations about the group characteristics and value changes, to deeply understand the changes, and the achievements that the Hui nationality has obtained during the urbanization. Furthermore, we analysised the reflections and reasons of the value changes, and provided feasible suggestions for perfectiy solving these problems, so that can push the Hui work advancing in the urbanization process of Lanzhou city. This paper is a study of Hui nationality in the city, while study on the characters, we also generalize and explore universal significance of the ethnic minorities development and countermeasures in the cities, hoping to provide a reference of the study of the minorities development in cities in Gansu province and even the whole country.
