In recent years, the development of vocational colleges is overwhelming, attracting a huge number of young teachers to become mainstream of the teaching teams. Statistical survey indicates in all the Chinese vocational colleges, young teachers under the age of 35 take up nearly a half of the whole staff, which is still on the rise. It is said that, in the near future, the adjustment and reform of higher education system will be continually enhanced. More than 600 local colleges are expected to gradually convert into vocational ones, whose purpose of teaching will be focused on cultivating highquality labor force, skilled workers, engineers and so on. So far, relevant policies have been issued. Given such circumstances, those young teachers in vocational colleges draw great attention. To some degrees, the future of vocational colleges is directly affected by the performance of young teachers. Therefore, strengthening the management and incenting young teachers to take an active part in their work become quite significant. As is known to all, the output of the talents in colleges plays an important role in the development in China, such as in Cheng du, the centre of west China. This again highlights the necessity of doing research on the effects of incenting young teachers in vocational colleges. After surveying and analyzing, suggestions on the incentive system of teachers have been concluded, which will definitely support to improve young teachers’ performance and insure the competitive abilities of vocational colleges.Under the guidance of incentive theory, this thesis takes 31 colleges in Cheng du as study subjects, conducting a survey on the performance of young teachers to find out its regularities and conclusions. In the research, hypotheses were set: problems in promoting system discouraged young teachers’ potentials; the unreasonable work assignment caused decreased output; shortage of further education limited the selfimprovement; imperfect welfare system increased the burden of living. On the basis of the above mentioned hypothesises, questionnaire were given to teachers after an accurate analysis of the results shown in this thesis. As for the current situation in vocational colleges in Cheng du, it is suggested that systems of promoting, assigning work, further education and welfare should be improved to better the work performance of young teachers.
