Literature, mathematical statistics, logical analysis are used to search for the similarities and differences of track and field athletes’ age characteristics in China and the world. This paper studies on the factors that hinder the development of elite track and field athletes in China and the conclusions can be drawn as follows.First, the current elite track and field athletes’ age of speed strength events and groups in the world appears as the older trend gradually. From 2008-2012, the competitive athletes’ age shows the increasing trend, mainly at the age of 25-29 years old. Besides, the numbers of athletes above 29 years old are more than the ones less than 25 years old.Second, the development trend of the domestic speed strength events and groups consists with the world, increasing year by year and the ages 20-24 are the most stages. In addition, the numbers of athletes above 24 years old are also more than the numbers of athletes less than 20 years old.Third, although the development trend of the domestic speed strength events and groups consists with the world, there is a big difference in the athletes’ competitive age and age distribution. Domestic athletes’ overall competitive ages generally are younger and maintain the shorter best form.Fourth, factors that affect the younger competitive age of our athletes are:the strategic imbalances in The National Games and The Provincial Games and the Olympic Games, defects in the system, the low scientific level of training, insufficiency of talent coaches and the poor job security for rretired athletes. From the results of the study, the current competitive level of domestic elite athletes is influenced by many factors. Based on that, this study presents the corresponding countermeasures and suggestions in order that scientific information and reference are provided for our competitive athletes training mode. |
