The pattens of floating population have changed now. In the past time, the flouting population migrated alone or migrated with his frends or fellow-townsmen. But nowadays, more and more floating population are migrating with their families, which is defined as family migration. The transformation of floating population attracts the attention of people and the family migration has become an importance proposition. Despite of this, we can find that there seldom exists researches that direct at nuclear family to investigate its migration modes and migration process as well as determinants of its migration modes and migration process. Moreover, existing research has ignored to explore the nuclear family’s determinants in a differential perspective. The nuclear family’s migration can be divided into threemodes based on the degree of completeness of the floating family. By referring to the domestic and overseas relevant literature, this paper examines current status of migration modes and migration process and the determining factors of the nuclear family’s migration modes and processbased on the data from the 2014 Floating Population Monitoring in FujianProvince. The results show that over 1/2 nuclear family resides in the destination cities with their all nuclear families. The process of complete familization of migration is more complex, but the speed is faster. The patterns and process of the nuclear family’s migration have obvious regional characteristics. The characteristics of the members and their living actuality are different among the three floating patterns. The family migration modes and process are affected by individual characteristics, family characteristics, floating arrangement characteristics and regional characteristics. The influence of couples’characteristics exist gender difference. Family characteristics are more important than individual characteristics in affecting the nuclear family migration. The arrangement of amount and time of first family member in nuclear family play an important role both in family migration modes and family migration process.
