Family migration has been the most outstanding population phenomenon since the mid of1990. Family has been the unit of migration, instead of individual. Since family migration has not been attracted enough attention, we couldn’t reach an agreement on family migration. The classic theory of migration has its problem, for it doesn’t care about family migration. Until70s, family migration could be explained by some new theories such as New Economics of Labor Migration, Immigration System Theory, or Immigration Network Theory. In China, we may make quite different conclusion on influencing factors or evaluations of family migration.Family migration may bring the inflow and outflow areas great change. Yangtze River Delta region are the most advanced area and the most densely populated part of China today, in which the family migration could represent the whole China. This topic focuses on the process and influencing factor of family migration in Shanghai, Jiangsu and Zhejiang province. The data was from the Dynamic Monitoring Data of Migrants in2012. This topic uses analytical method such as Descriptive Statistics, Binary Logistic Regression and Multiple Linear Regression. This thesis results in three dimensions:First, show the macro or micro situation of family migration. In Yangtze River Delta region,2.42was the average number of family members, and the ratio of family migration was larger than two thirds. Single family and nuclear family were the most two types of family structure. This topic showed that Shanghai got the highest level of family migration but the most difficult to immigrate, and Zhejiang got the lowest level but easier to immigrate.Second, show the process of family migration. The average batches of migration were1.47. Most families immigrate into the cities for no more than three batches. In first batch, young men were the most. In second batch, wives and children were the most. In third batch, those were nearly all children.Last, show the influencing factor of family migration. Those influencing factors had a significant impact on the level of family migration, such as gender, ages, educations, economic conditions, the money sent to native places, household and so on. As time growed, the level of family migration speeded up. Family migration should be supported by the government, which means the household registration system should be changed, and the social security system should be improved, and the service system for the migrants should be set up.
