In this paper, by studying the present situation of arithmetic teaching in elementary school, it builds a teaching model to improve the efficiency of arithmetic teaching--structured teaching design of elementary arithmetic, which can not only help teacher with structured knowledge teaching and students’ thinking ability cultivation, but also provide lead and standard to teaching as well as reasonable proposals to textbook writing. Therefore, it has a certain practical significance and pertinence.To start with curriculum, textbooks and teaching, this paper studies several aspects such as structured teaching strategy, teaching design processes as well as the teaching processes of elementary arithmetic. Also, it summarizes implementation plans of arithmetic structured teaching by the questionnaire investigation, interview and micro teaching experiments.Arithmetic structured teaching aims to teach "essence", which reveals the main essential content hidden in knowledge points; to teach "structures", which highlights the basic structure of the content with the attention to the connection between knowledge points; to teach "ability", which instructs students to analyze content and problems consciously with the view of "structure" and develops students’ learning interest and learning habit; to teach "attainment" is to spread methods of transformation and guide students to form the way of thinking gradually in terms of induction, analogy and comparison.With regards to structural characteristics of the teaching material, it is found in this paper that the content in the arithmetic textbook for the elementary school is coherent, logical and cohesive. In addition, this paper constructs a design model for arithmetic structured teaching which includes five elements of textbook, students, objectives, evaluation and process preparation and comprises a nonlinear model. The teaching process is divided into five sections encompassing situation establishment, knowledge exploration, knowledge application, class summary and homework assignment; teaching strategies mainly contain problems oriented strategies, structural practice strategy, integration comparison strategy. Teaching design model of elementary arithmetic structured learning can stimulate students’ interest and motivation for arithmetic, improve students’ ability of learning arithmetic and develop students’ thinking and learning habits.
