Coaches Leading-behavior, Athletes Self-efficacy And Its Relationship During Cheerleading Training In FuJian Province Colleges

Recently, the ability that a sports coach has gained in educating athletes’ psychological behaviors, specially their coaching behaviors in the training, has raised many concerns among psychologists. As few studies have investigated in the psychology behind cheerleading exercises, this study has chosen 28 coaches and 435 athletes from 16 teams as sample that had attended the 15th Fujian University Games cheerleading competition, which included Fujian Normal University, Putian College, Jiangxia College, Jimei University, et al. Methods such as literatures review, Survey and Statistics Data Collections & Analysis, have been used in this paper. Its aims are to find out the relationship between coaches’ leading behaviors and athletes’ self-efficacy. Forms such as "Coaches’ leadership behavior" and "General self-efficacy" are used and found the differences of different athletes in expectation on coaches’ behaviors and further investigated in the relationship between athletes’ self-efficacy and coaches’ leading behaviors.The results show:1. Fujian province Cheer leading Coaches tend to the leadership behavior teaching and the training, in which the leadership behavior of the players’ expectation and the self-perceptional leadership behavior of coaches make statistically significant differences in the dimension of teaching and training, democratic and autocratic.2. Different gender, events, the importance of role, major, ages, groups and training years lead to different leadership behavior of the players’expectation. The trend is that the older and with longer training ages, the more the player like to train in a harmonious and positive environment.3. Different gender, events, the importance of role, major, ages, groups and training years lead to differences of self-efficacy on players. Professional sports player’s self-efficacy is significantly higher than non-sports players. The players with 2.5 years’ training ages have the highest self-efficacy.4. The five dimensions of Coach Leadership Behavior of Fujian province college Cheer leading and the player self-efficacy are correlated significantly in a statistical sense, the dimension of autocratic behavior and the players’self-efficacy show a negative correlation, the other four dimensions are positively related to. The statistical analysis results show that there is close correlation between coach leadership behavior and team demonstrated self-efficiency during cheer leading project training process. It needs a further research if there is a causal relationship between the two.Finally, the main conclusions are formed as follows:1. The cheer leading coaches leadership behavior of Fujian province colleges, should continue to maintain and enhance the good performance in the dimension of teaching training and instruction behavior, and adjust the behavior of self perception or evaluation in other four dimensions, make it harmonious and consistent among characteristics of variables with different small project, different genders, different training years and players’different demands and expectations of training behavior, and ultimately achieve the goal of improving College students’cheer leading training project level and achievement.2. Different cheerleading squads of different variables characteristics have different coach leadership behavior expectation in the five dimensions. The male members like coaches’training behavior and guide more, female players expect more coaches’social support behavior, the short training period players need more expectations of coaches, the long training period ones love more democratic and less autocratic leadership behavior, in the process of training, if the coaches can depend on the actual situation of players, be in accordance with the principle of distinction, differ from man to man to coach, and be good at observation, analysis of the characteristics of each member in the team work, timely find players encounter difficulties in training and show lower self-efficacy, then use targeted and effective leadership behavior, the coaches can improve the training effect at last.3. Fujian province college cheerleading are in the middle of the overall level of self-efficacy, it takes a long time to get a higher level of self-efficacy training. It is illustrated that long time systematic training, access to players’skill level players’ successful experiences, training course experience promotion is very important to build players’self-efficacy. Therefore, Fujian province college cheer leading team overall level should be improved, must establish a complete training system in training, step by step training on the team, and organize some small group performances and competitions, to increase access to team success experience, lay a good foundation for the players to give full play to the technical and psychological advantage.4. Based on the results presented in the empirical data, the paper verifies that the sport psychology behavior level "teaching benefits teachers as well as students" principle is a basic establishment in a single directions, it is a positive correlation between cheer leading training players’ self-efficacy and coaches’ leadership behavior in four dimensions. In addition, autocratic behavior dimensions in the lower group or the short training period, the player self-efficacy beyond a negative correlation. This suggests that, in the process of college cheer leading training, if "teaching" of the party in leadership behavior showed a "dictatorship" level is too high, then the "learning" of one side with the training capacity and raise the level of sense of self-efficacy will decrease in.
