In the international situation of the economic globalization, exchanges between different countries are becoming increasingly frequent and the demanding for the talented who can handle intercultural communication has become urgent. Nowadays, the cultivation ways of ICC mainly rely on English class teaching, but the limited understanding and weak awareness of teachers and students result in the superficial cultivation of ICC, which becomes a simple “cultural import”. Currently, the training objects of ICC focus on college students and high school students. However, it is clearly proposed to enhance students’ intercultural awareness and ICC in compulsory education in the English Curriculum Standard of Compulsory Education which issued in 2011. So it is imperative that teachers should come up with a feasible strategy according to students’ psychological characteristics and cognitive level in today’s junior high school English teaching.The study analyses the research status of components and training mode of ICC in depth and presents TTPC teaching strategy from the perspectives of textbook selection, teaching method, teaching evaluation and learning method under the guidance of communicative teaching theory, cross-cultural teaching theory, second language acquisition theory, constructive theory as well as humanism theory. To verify the positive role of TTPC strategy in fostering ICC, the author uses TTPC strategy in classroom teaching and collects the data measured in pre-test and post-test, using SPSS software to analyze these data by descriptive statistics analysis and paired sample T-test analysis and prove the validity of TTPC strategy through one-year teaching experiment ultimately. The study also raises some improvements of TTPC teaching strategy in the future according to the experimental results.This dissertation is divided into three parts: The first part is the theoretical part, including the first, the second and the third chapter, which mainly introduces research background, research purpose and significance, research value, current research and theoretical basis. The second part is the main content, including the fourth and the fifth chapter, firstly presents TTPC strategy and introduces the specific content of TTPC strategy. Secondly, applies TTPC strategy into classroom teaching and compares the difference of students’ ICC according to the data of pre-test and post-test. The third part is the conclusion part, including the sixth chapter, put forward the shortcoming and prospect of this study.The study aims to provide some inspirations for junior high school English teachers and cultivate ICC of junior high school students according to classification of training mode of ICC home and abroad and the specific application in the English teaching of TTPC teaching strategy.
