| Reserved talents training is the essential impetus for the sustainable development of competitive sports. As the cradle of reserved talents for basketball, Fuxin Basketball School is the only officially named and approved independent professional basketball school and it serves as one of the first batch of schools in national youth basketball training. Over the past decade, this school has cultivated many famous national women basketball players like Zhou Qi, Feng Xin, Jin Jiabao and a host of other outstanding professional basketball players. Fuxin Basketball School has made outstanding contributions for the training of reserved talents in Liaoning Province and the whole nation as well.However, the development of Fuxin Basketball School has come to a standstill since 2010. The number of students and the quality of training and management began to go downhill. This trend is mainly reflected in the number of students in the school. It has declined sharply from more than 230 in its early period to just 110-plus students. the number of talents provided to its superior provincial sports school has also dropped markedly. As a traditional basketball school with a glorious history, at present it is particularly important to objectively analyze the development dilemma and put forward some development strategies.By means of literature consultation, questionnaires, mathematical statistics method and expert interview, this paper analyzes the present situation of reserved talents training of Fuxin Basketball School. The study shows that the numbers of athletes are continuously dropping and the enrollment is rather worrisome. The motivation and attitude for athletic training are comparatively positive while the attitude and effect of academic study are rather unsatisfactory. The number of matches that those athletes choose to participate in needs to be increased. The school is in desperate need of senior coaches and professional coaching team. the theoretical study for the coaches is somewhat insufficient and the professional titles of them are yet to be improved. Some of the coaches have not monitored and paid enough attention to the academic study of those athletes. The salary and benefits for the coaches remain to be enhanced and the managerial system for regulating the coaches and athletes calls for further improvement. Moreover, the selections for professional athletes lack scientific support. This thesis thus brings forward the following strategies based on the above-mentioned study. The source of athletes should be expanded so as to increase the storage of professional players. The teenage players should be taught to realize the importance of learning cultural courses and foster the independent learning habit. It is suggested that the comprehensive quality of the coaches should be enhanced and a specific training program for the coaches should be formulated in order to ensure the comprehensiveness of the trainees. The introduction of high-level talents should be put on the agenda to strengthen the building of the coaching teams and bring the level of the coaches to a higher standard. The construction of managerial system needs to be perfected to build a feasible system for employment, evaluation, recruitment, reward and punishment as well as responsibility for each post of the related fields and these should be implemented in a strict manner. More capital investment should be conducted to realize the diversification of economic sources and strengthen the school’s ability to survive on the basis of its own actual characteristics. Market operation should also be implemented to seek the aid from enterprises and the society from all walks of life. The purpose of this paper is to offer Fuxin Basketball School some useful reference to get rid of development dilemma, improve the speed and quality of reserved talents training so as to achieve sustainable development. |
