Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region is a multi-ethnic region, Chinese have a very important role in this region`s ethnic politics, economy, culture and education.With the continuous development of the social economy, there is a growing awareness of the implementation of bilingual education in minority areas. Bilingual education of ethnic minorities is an important part of China’s education, and an important way to achieve social and economic development. High quality bilingual teachers are the key to achieving the goal of bilingual education. Bilingual teachers have a very important role in the bilingual teaching work because they are the direct perpetrators of bilingual teaching.For now, Xinjiang has been incorporated the high school geography into the Bilingual Education System. As a teaching method, Chinese played a significant role in cultivate all-round development minority students and the formation of scientific literacy. Uyghur bilingual geography teachers are an important part of Xinjiang minority teachers. They are shouldering the task of training minority students’ in scientific literacy, professionalism, teaching philosophy and methods of geography bilingual teacher are key factors to enhance the bilingual geography teaching.Uyghur-Chinese bilingual geography teachers selected for the study object who attend to bilingual training in Xinjiang Normal University. And made a deep study of Uyghur-Chinese bilingual geography teacher’s teaching Situation to clear geography bilingual teacher`s problems that they fell down and difficulties in teaching, the research using documentary research, questionnaire, observation, interviews, etc, and proposing some suggestions for resolve to this problems, provide the basis for the development of bilingual teaching geography.This paper made documentary research of Uyghur-Chinese bilingual education,Uyghur-Chinese bilingual geography teacher’s teaching Situation and interrelated research of Bilingual Education, establish the purpose and significance of this article,the contents, methods and technical line of this research. The study focus on the current situation of teachers who teaching Uyghur-Chinese bilingual geography in Uygur High Schools. We analyze the study object of this study, to find the Uyghur-Chinese bilingual geography teaching problems in Uygur High Schools. The study found that the situation of Uyghur-Chinese bilingual geography teacher’s teaching have following problems: Uyghur-Chinese bilingual geography teachers lack of awareness on Bilingual Geography Teaching; Uyghur bilingual geography teachershave the problem in Chinese proficiency; Studies on the bilingual education are not sufficient; teachers are nor use different kinds of methods; Hardly any organization of Geography extracurricular activities in schools and etc.Based on the above research, this article put forward some suggestions for improve the teaching quality of Uyghur-Chinese bilingual geography teachers. I hope that the study can promote the bilingual teaching ability of Uyghur geography teachers and facilitate the development of the geography bilingual teaching.
