As is known to all, senior middle school education is an important part of the basic education. And also English occupies a vital position in the senior middle school education. Last year, the senior middle schools in Lhasa completed the whole process of the new curriculum reform. Teachers are the key factor to ensure the effective implementation of the new curriculum, therefore this study has selected English teachers with different sex, different titles and different teaching age, different degree, teaching different grade students in 6 senior middle schools in Lhasa as the research object. Through questionnaire and individual interview, the study aims to know the current situation of the English teachers’ receptivity to the new curriculum. Then some countermeasures and suggestions have been put forward according to the specific problems to enhance the teacher’s receptivity.The study finds that English teachers’ receptivity to the new curriculum in senior middle school of Lhasa is not ideal on the whole, but teachers’ behavioral intention is positive; Difference test shows that there is obvious difference between the male teachers and the female teachers in the three items: attitude, behavioral intention, fears and concerns; There is no obvious difference between the English teachers’ receptivity towards the new curriculum on the whole; The results of the interview and questionnaire investigation show that the practicality of the new English curriculum is low; Regression analysis also shows that "the practicality of the new English curriculum" is the key factor which influences English teachers’ receptivity to the new curriculum in senior middle school of Lhasa. The results of the study also indicates that teachers have got a low score in the item of "teachers’ fears and concerns ". And what worries the teachers most is the evaluation system.Teachers have got the lowest score in the item of "support system". Parents, schools and society have not offered enough support for teachers to implement the new curriculum.In order to enhance the teacher’s receptivity to the new English curriculum in Lhasa, it is needed to improve the practicality of the new English curriculum of Lhasa, according to the practical situation of teachers and students. Meanwhile, under the current education system, teachers might as well face the current teaching reality, reflect and actively change their daily teaching behaviors. The most important of all, all sectors of society should provide full and comprehensive support for the teachers, according to the real demands of the English teachers in high school of Lhasa.
