| The globalization of the world economy and the development of the information technology make the communication around the world becom e increasingly frequent. As a m eans of communication, English is very important, m eanwhile higher requirements have been put forward for E nglish teaching. Thus middle school English teachers should not only teach stud ents language knowledge, but also help students understand the culture behind the language. In the process of teaching, teach ers should expand the contents and scope of the culture accordi ng to the students’ characteristics and cog nitive ability. Alt hough the im portance and feasibility of English culture have been reached a consensu s in English field in China, the practice about the English culture teaching in middle schools is still in the in itial and test stage at present, and there are som e problems of English cultural teaching in rural junior middle schools, which cause English cultura l teaching can’t be i mplemented in rural junior middle school. In order to improve English cultural teaching, we should find problems, analyze the reasons and should find out feasible st rategies according to the problems.In order to find out the problem s of English cultural teaching in rural junior middle schools, in this paper the author takes 13 rural junior middle schools’ English teachersand students in Renshou, Meishan as the rese arch objects. The author collects data by using the methods of questionnaire investigation, interview and analysis, and analyzing the present situation of E nglish cultural teaching in Re nshou Rural Junior Middle Schools and points out the existing problem s. The results show that the problem s of English cultural teaching in rural ju nior middle school as follows: Rural junio r high school English teachers and students have not enough awareness and attention on English cultural teachin g; The contents and methods of Rural junio r high scho ol English cultural teaching are single and boring; English cultural assessment is rarely involved in the English exa ms. The author aims at the problem s from educational authorities, junior middle schools, junior middle school teachers, junior middle school students and teaching materials to analyze the reasons of the problems. And in the last part the author tries to promote strategies for English cultural teaching in rural junior middle school. |
