College student community is an important way to implement quality education and it’s also an effective way to unite students,it plays an important role in improving the overall quality of students, enhancing students’ social adaptability,promoting students’ development and growth and so on. With the implementation of quality education, most universities in our country carry out a variety of community activities. It’s worth studying further that how college students engage exactly in vigorous community activities.College students’ community engagement is an important part of student engagement.Research college student community from the perspective of engagement can enrich the theory of student engagement. Learn more about the situation can find the problem about college students’ community engagement.Meanwhile,it can offer a new way to evaluate the college student community.College students’ community engagement refers to a state that college students involved in community activities. It not only refers to the state whether the students conduct cooperation and exchange ideas with other members of the community in community activities, but also include the state of students involved in the cognitive and emotional aspects.College students’ community engagement includes three dimensions:community cognitive engagement,community emotion engagement and community behavior engagement. The degree of college students’ community engagement refers to the level and depth of college students involved in cognition, emotion and behavior in the community activities.During the study, literature is used to gather kinds of information about“college student community”“student engagement”“college students’ community engagement” in network resources, CNKI paper journals and libraries bibliographic search. The use of literature provides a theoretical basis for the study and determines the contents.Interview is another important method.Interviewed community members, community cadres and community instructors according to the interview outline to understand the college students’ community engagement from different angles.Combined with literature study and the result of interview determine the scale content. Finally use the self scale "College Students’ Community Engagement Scale" to investigate and know about the college students’ community engagement. Self scale has a very good reliability and validity.The study found that during the three dimensions of community engagement, the behavior engagement is the highest engagement, the second is emotional engagement, the cognitive engagement is the last. Rather than the cognitive engagement, student are likely to pay more action and emotion in the community. A fact is that the degree of college students’ community engagement is not high and not deep. Factors affecting College students’ community engagement are complicated. Gender, grade, political affiliation, discipline, academic achievement, community position are all different factors. College students’ community engagement appears significant differences in grades, community position and other factors.Using data MPLUS7.31 to do the confirmatory factor analysis, and build a model of college students’ community cognitive, emotional, behavioral engagement. The standardized path coefficients between cognitive and emotional engagement, emotional and behavior engagement are0.675 and 0.371.Cognitive engagement plays a positive influence on emotional engagement,and emotional engagement plays a positive influence on behavior engagement.Cognitive engagement total effects 0.802 of behavior engagement which has 0.250 mediating effect.Mediating effect of 31.21% of the total effect. Cognitive engagement has a positive influence on behavior engagement,32.21% of influence produced by emotional engagement.The emotional engagement promotes the behavior engagement.There are three aspects we can do to improve the degree of college students’ community engagement, enhance the degree of community behavior engagement, improve the degree of community cognitive engagement and enhance degree of community emotion engagement. Only do these, can communities play an important role in students’ growth and other aspects of promotion.
