Teacher questioning as one of critical aspects of in-class teaching, is the core of effective teaching. It is especially important in the mathematics class. The process of students’ thinking and answering questions is also the training of mathematics learning and thinking ability.The adoption of teaching through problem solving can promote the emotional communication between teachers and students in the classroom,enhance effective interactive teaching and learning and improve students’ learning skill.On the basis of many researches and studies, the author studied mathematics teaching through problem solving in Junior Middle School considering the actual situation of students. The current study should include:Firstly, the introduction part. In this part, author introduces the study background, the meaning of conducting this study, the status quo of current research both in China and other countries and the research methods and the innovation of this study.Following the introduction part, the main body introduces the teaching through problem solving form both the theory and the operation aspects.Wherein the operation part, the superiority, the main stages, the implementation steps and the issues that would arise in the implementingprocess of the teaching through problem solving will be discussed.As followed, the empirical part investigates the status quo of the mathematics teaching through problem solving in four middle schools in Changsha city, then analyses the audios recorded during the actual teaching process. Results show that teaching through problem solving can mobilize the enthusiasm of students, deepen their understanding of theoretical knowledge. And it is also a good way to improve both the learning and teaching. Besides, based on the research and deep analyses on the mathematics teaching through problem solving, this study indicates some deficiencies of current teaching process in the class.Lastly, the current study proposes some recommendations to help solve the deficiencies of mathematics teaching through problem solving in middle school, hoping this could offer some favor to teachers to improve their teaching efficiency and quality.
