Every subject has its unique language. Chemistry language is a short but formal presentation for the knowledge of Chemistry. To learn Chemistry well, first of all, people need to get familiar with Chemistry language, which is formed to describe the phenomenon of Chemistry and explain chemical cognition. It is a tool for learning, thinking, communicating and spreading the results of Chemistry study.In this paper, methods of documentary, questionnaire survey, interview and class activities are used to investigate and analyze the current situation of students’ ability to use Chemistry language for expression, and then put forward some teaching methods and strategies for improvement. I carry out the teaching practice in Class 14 and 15 Grade 2010 by taking “Oral Test”as the core problem, and the result is satisfying.There are four parts in the study:1. Through documentary study, state the significance of developing the ability of using Chemistry language, which is of great importance in Chemistry teaching for Senior High. Meanwhile, work out some teaching methods and strategies.2. Make a research on the current situation of senior students’ ability of using Chemistry language with questionnaire and interview. To carry out the research for students in Chengdu Wenjiang high school, there are totally 500 self-made questionnaire and 453 of them are collected back. The result of the research suggests:(1) senior students have a little awareness of developing their ability of using Chemistry language, but the desire to learn actively is not strong enough.(2) senior students are always too shy to use Chemistry language.(3)teachers pay more attention to students’ ability of thinking, solving problems and doing experiment instead of the ability of using Chemistry language.(4) It is short of some training measures in teaching process.3. Put the methods and strategies into practice of teaching Class 14 and 15 Grade 2010. Try a new method called“Oral Test”. The result shows that students have improved their ability of using Chemistry language and the strategies mentioned in this paper is actually effective. Both teachers and students think highly of this method.4. Through the study, there has been an item bank of 332 items, which helps accumulate abundant teaching materials for Chemistry Oral Test.
