Reading comprehension is important and difficult for students to master in English teaching, which has a great influence on students’ scores. Meanwhile, reading strategy cultivation is the most important of all. However, in reality, teachers usually ignore valid reading strategy cultivation through lack of them. They often choose single teaching method. Besides, students only focus on the completion of their tasks..Yangzhong No.2 Middle School is taken as an example in this paper, and reading strategy cultivation is carried out on the students with the same English level, selected from different classes. In addition, the relationship between skimming-scanning reading strategy and students’ English reading comprehension is explored by measuring many times. Based on the analyses, it can be concluded that great changes have taken place in the two different classes. Students have increased their scores and the ability of their reading comprehension has reached a high level. It suggests that there are great differences between the two classes’ English reading comprehension and students’ reading comprehension can be improved by reading strategy cultivation. What’s more, there are also some differences between students with different sexes and birthplaces.According to the study, this paper advises that senior high English teachers pay more attention to developing students’ reading comprehension and that senior one should be the best stage. In addition, the timely inspection from teachers can get students to put reading strategies into practice flexibly.
