Problems And Countermeasures In Youth Development From The Perspective Of Social Support

Thriving youths lead to a thriving man; strong youths lead to a strong country. Adolescence is the special period which is the key stage of the formation of the world outlook, outlook on life and value outlook. Teenagers’development is directly related to the future of a country and the region. Under the background of the reform of social governance system, the innovation of youth development service work is an important category of social governance system innovation. It is important to understand the present situation of youth group, problems and needs of this group, so that targeted support and services can be provided for them. Those support is not only a good explore for youth social governance and service system innovation, but also an advantage for healthy growth of youth and stability and prosperity of country.Since the rise of 1970s, social support theory has been widely used in various fields. Social support is a general or specific help from relatives, communities and social networks. It is a general term for all kinds of support from individuals. Social support can be divided into formal social support and informal social support. Support subject diversification, support content diversification and support intensity differentiation are the inherent requirements. This study is based on social support, selecting Shunde District, Foshan City as the investigation site, the local 2203 young people to carry out a questionnaire survey. Meanwhile, local 13youth organizations are visited to analyze comprehensively present situation of youth group, problems, so that countermeasures and suggestions can be provided.The specific sections of this study are as follows:The first chapter contains the research background, research significance and the domestic and foreign research review. The domestic and foreign research reviews severally combine and evaluate social support theory and youth development, and sum up social support theory’s significance for youth development research.The second chapter is the research design, which includes the definition of the related concepts, research ideas and methods and samples description of empirical analysis. The research ideas and methods describe the research design, sample selection, data collection methods and processing technology and so on in details.The third chapter is the empirical analysis of the youth development. Based on the questionnaires survey of 2203young people in Shunde District, the development status of young people are analyzed from four dimensions:self-cognition, daily life, ability promotion and social participation. The problems exists in the development of young people, including self-cognition bias and behavior disorder, irregular daily life arrangement and poor self-management, weak ability to relieve pressure and less interpersonal communication skill, tendentious attention towards social affairs,low level of social participation.The fourth chapter regards social support theory inherent requirements as the framework, and analyzes the factors of influencing youth development. Those include:discussing peer, school and family support to study the effect of multiple subjects based on social support for youth development; comparative analyzing two groups of young people——the city youths and the country youths, the elite youths and ordinary youths to explore the influence of social support conteny,social support intensity differentiation for youth development.Based on the above discussion, the fifth chapter put forwards specific countermeasures and suggestions for youth development from the perspective of social support theory. Those countermeasures and suggestions consists of further improvement of youth right protection for the legal guarantee, optimization of pluralistic social support system for youth development and promotion of social work’s professionalization for youth affairs.
