The Research Of Social Work Involved In Urban Poor Families In Social Support Network Perspective

This paper uses the method of questionnaire investigation and semi-structure interview to analysis the social support of the family in poverty, and to discuss the specific strategies and measures of improving or enhancing the social support through probing into the social work intervention. In here, as a comprehensive network, the social support network contains a informal networks, which includes family support, friend support and neighborhood support, and a formal networks, Which includes government support,community support, social organization support.Specifically, the paper researching starts from the several aspects, including the basic situation, personal and family economic status, and living conditions. And got the material of the basic situation of city poverty, family relationship, social interaction, social support and life attitude. Through researching the respondents, social support system, analyzing the present situation and the causes, taking the professional practice and reflection, summing up the strategies and methods of social work intervention, and putting forward some proposals and suggestions for the government to solve the problem of poor families in the cities, forming the perspective of social work.Researching shows that, lacking of social support of the poor families in the cities, is a common phenomenon. One of the specific performance is in the formal support system:in generally, the government and the community through the subsistence allowances and other material assistance to carry out the work of helping the poor famines, but there are many shortcomings in this work, and the support of the work units and social organizations are very limited, also. The other is in the informal support system: lacking of family support, extended family support, and the supporting from friends and neighborhood is less,also. When refer to the reason, we can find that, to the objective aspect, the major reasons including the social security system is not perfect, the activities of the community are not sufficient, the strength of the work unit and the social organization isn’t be playedcompletely, and the homogeneity; To the subject aspect, the major reasons including the groups in poor have irrational emotion, they cannot acquire resources smoothly, and there are obstructive factors in the communication mode, besides, their help seeking intention is passively.As a self-help professional, social work can play an important role in fighting poverty.Through the implementation of social work programs, the author summarized several intervention strategies, such as respecting the dignity and uniqueness of the client,selecting appropriate service mode, paying attention to cooperation and integration of resources, enhancing the social support of the client, and constructing or enhancing comprehensive support network, an so on. Those strategies can be propitious to promoting the social work professional development and to solving the city poverty problem.
