The phenomenon of study-weariness has been very common among secondary vocational school students, and inferiority feeling was thought to be one of the most important reasons. Taking a student sample from one secondary vocational school in Guangzhou, the current study first studied the mechanism of how inferiority affected learning engagement based on the theory of self-efficacy. Then, it also studied the mechanism of inferiority’s compensation based on both the theory of Adler’s inferiority and compensation and the locus of control. The two parts finally were integrated to form a moderated mediation model. The conclusions were as follows:(1) Secondary vocational students’ overall inferiority complex is lower than the ordinary middle school students’. But upon the life inferiority, the secondary vocational students’score was greater than the ordinary middle school students’. (2) To life inferiority, Boys’ score was significantly higher than girls’. Significant grade differences were also found on personality inferiority, and Grade 1 was significantly higher than Grade 2. On the professional differences, students majored in science felt more life inferiority than students who majored in arts or others. No significant difference was found between students from country and city, and students from one-child family or not. (3) Academic self-efficacy completely mediated the relationship between inferiority and learning engagement.In the group that was internal controlled, the locus of control can moderate the mediation effect of academic self-efficacy between inferiority and learning engagement. At last some advises and research prospects were given.
