Geography is a subject that studies the relationship between human and environment and undertakes the important task of cultivating high-quality talents in the new era. The current situation of China’s high school geography teaching is not optimistic. With the country’s request for the reform of basic education, the exploration of teaching methods for primary and secondary schools in our country has gradually deepened and is in line with international practices. How to apply the international popular flipped classroom teaching mode to the high school geography teaching is the starting point of this paper.This paper uses literature research method and widely refers to Chinese and foreign classical theory and achievement of pedagogy and psychology and the study of flipped classroom. It elaborates the domestic and foreign research status on the flip classroom, and defines the concept of the flipped classroom. At the same time the researcher carries out the questionnaire and individual interview in senior geography teachers and senior students based on the present situation of senior geography teaching. The researcher also investigates the implementation of the flipped classroom and analyzes the problems of traditional geography teaching. The application of flipped classroom mode in high school geography teaching is also analyzed through specific examples. At last the researcher summarizes the process of the flipped classroom teaching mode. This paper makes a breakthrough to the original high school geography teaching mode through the design of the study guide, recording video, classroom discussion, the teachers’summary and reflection and makes comprehensive analysis on the process of practice and traditional classroom teaching. The conclusion of the paper is as follows.(1) In terms of teaching, flipped classroom mode breaks the traditional concept of classroom on the limit of time and space. It integrates every aspect--before the class, in the class, after the class effectively. And then students can make full use of their time.(2) In terms of the design concept, flipped classroom changes the traditional teaching mode, so that students become the true masters of the classroom, and their initiative and enthusiasm have been increased sharply.(3) In terms of the role of students, students are the leading roles and become masters of the classroom. Flipped classroom can arouse the inherent potential of students in the greatest extent.(4) In terms of preview and review of students, the effect of the preview before class and the review after class has been greatly improved.(5) In term of teaching effect, the geography flipped classroom is more active. At the same time, the test scores of the students are also superior to the students in the traditional classroom.In summary, flipped classroom teaching mode focuses on design. This kind of design is based on students’ learning situation. It reflects the ideas of the new curriculum reform and stimulates students’ interest in learning and achieves good teaching effect.
