Inquiry learning is not only a way to learn, but also an advanced educational concept and teaching approch. When considering characteristics of the high school geography, perspective of students development and improvement of teaching ability, it is necessary to perform inquiry learning in high scholl geography classes. Moreover, regarding to the application of multimedia in the high school classes, there are still many problems and chalenges in high school classes. In order to adapt to the rapid development of high school student requirments, I suggest that we must research and practice the integration of inquiry learning and multimedia technology in high school geography classes.Inquiry learning is the embodiment of the concepts of the new curriculum. With the full implementation of curriculum in the area, inquiry learning exists not only as an independent discipline training, but will also serve as an important way of learning and teaching strategy of infiltration in the teaching of various subjects, which plays a significant role in promoting and facilitating on the development of education.This paper iinlcudes five parts:Part I is introduction. The main questions were raised. There were four parts, that is the research background, object of this study, purpose of this study and research method a nd contents. Then based on those four parts the main researching issues of this study was raised.Part II is literature review report. I classified and evaluated literatures, then reported the main points, issues and developing trends of those publications.Part III is the necessity of implementing inquiry learning in geography teaching classes. The author demonstrated the needs of inquiry learning for student developemnt and geography teaching improvement. The author also proposed that the geography teaching classes are more suitable for performing inquiry learning. Finally, oit is suggested that we should improve students’ self-learning abilities by using multimedia techniches. As for the roles of geography teachers in performing the inquire learning, designer, organizer and instructor were emphosized.Part IV is case practising. To create efficient classes, we suggested using case teaching mode and selecting high-quality cases. Then we showed two examples about the integregation of inquiry learning and multimedia technology.Part V is conclusion. The main conclusion of this reearch was concluded. Then, limitations of performing inquiry learning and using miltimedia in high school geography teaching were revealed.
