The motivation of this article is driven from the contemplation on children’s piano education. As an indispensable part of music education,music education for children is gaining growing attention these years.This article is based on Piaget’s theory of cognitive development stages and is aimed to offer some suggestions by exploring the various performances in every stage of the children’s piano learning process and proposing corresponding teaching strategies.In the article, the author explained Piaget’s theory and has found the combination of this theory and piano teaching. Then the author analyzed and summarized differences in the perspectives of cognition, memory,comprehension, etc. to provides suggestions and strategies based on the research. The article is divided into three parts: introduction, main body and conclusion. In the introduction, the inspirations of this article and current researches in this field are introduced. The main body contains 3 chapters: the first chapter gives fundamental principles of Piaget’s theory of cognitive development and it’s correlation with and reflection on students’ cognitive performances in all stages; the second chapter provides teaching strategies for each developing stage of piano-learning children and brings up the theory of using different teaching method respectively in pre-calculating phase, concrete calculating phase and formal calculating phase; the conclusion part summarizes the effect of cognition cultivating in children’s piano learning and the importance of the cooperation among teachers, students and parents.
