Mass media Sports information has become an important source of sports information to college students. Its education function has a subtle influence on sports life. Recognizing its importance and making it work is significantly meaningful for strengthening college students’ physical education.This thesis puts the mass media influence on different gender college students’ sports cognition as a starting point, and uses psychologists and education experts cloth Lu Shu study theory as the theoretical basis. In this study, 552 college students(274boys, accounting for 49.64% of investigation number; girl’s 278 people, 50.36% of investigation number) from Sichuan Normal University are selected as the research object. The study methods are as follows: the collection of documentation,questionnaire survey method, comparative method, mathematical statistics and so on.After the investigation of contact condition in which sports information through mass media influences different-gender college students and the comparison of the influence on different-gender college students sports cognition from the sports information of mass media. This thesis provides a new perspective to improve university students’ sports education mode to guide college students’ extracurricular physical exercise.Main conclusions are as follows:1, Through studing the needs of different gender college students for sports information of mass media, contact behavior, consciousness, the mathematical statistics analysis show that on the whole, male college students in contact with the mass media makes a numerical proportion. The use of the medium level is higher than female students. For contacting media, male college students are proactive, while female college students are a litte active.2, College students’ gender difference affects the media contact behavior and consciousness of different condition. This study fully confirmed the different gender college students need a variety of media, and the need for each type of media is different. Different gender college students choose different sports information.Moreover, different gender college students like sports information of different mass media to varying degrees.3,Mass media influence cognition of different gender college students sports to different degrees. The media type, frequency, time, the restriction of media content different gender college students contact and gender itself result in it. The different contact frequency, time, content and have a certain correlation with different gender college students’ interest in sports, sports attitude, sports values and the degree of correlation degree is different.
