As the globalization of China, English has been more and more important in people’ daily life. For senior high school students, they have to learn English well in order to prepare for the college entrance examination and future life. Strong wishes must be owned as the first step if students want to learn English well and they will put it into practice only with the condition of strong motivation. Many elements affect students’learning motivation and experts have achieved great achievement in motivation study. Studies prove that teacher is one of the most powerful elements. The inspiration and development of students’ motivation needs teachers’ cooperation. Teachers’ personalities, profound knowledge and teaching ways all influence students’learning motivation to some degree, in which teachers’feedback plays an important role.The thesis aims to investigate the effect of teachers’feedback on students’ motivation. The ways of feedback involves feedback forms in class and feedback forms after class. By questionnaires, classroom observation, and practical teaching experience, this paper tries to answer the following questions:(1) what kind of feedback ways do teachers use? (2)How is students’attitude towards teachers’feedback? (3) Whether the feedback meets students’need and inspires their learning motivation? (4) What do teachers need to change in their feedback in order to inspire students’motivation? The author intends to put forward some suggestions in the research so that teachers can use more effective feedback to stimulate students’motivation and improve their learning efficiency.This thesis has been done mainly through questionnaires, combining with classroom observation. One hundred students and five teachers from Senior Grade One and Two in the affiliated high school of Minzu University are chosen randomly as the respondents. Based on the research result and practice teaching experience, the author offers some suggestions for teachers’feedback:(1) Teacher’s own ability of feedback should be improved; (2) "Stratified feedback" can be adopted according to students’individual difference; (3) Different feedback methods can be mixed used; (4) Teacher should pay more attention to emotional feedback.
