| School improvement is a long-lasting and never-fading topic. Improving the quality of school running is an important issue concerned by national leaders, parents, and the whole society. In the era of information technology, in the context of big data being widely used and valued, "using data in school improvement process and speaking with evidence provided by data" is the trend. However, how to use data effectively to promote school improvement is a key issue worthy of attention and discussion.Through literature research at home and abroad, it is known that there are not many systematic researches in this field in our country at present. On the basis of reading a large number of foreign literatures and network resources, this dissertation attempts to introduce the relevant theoretical and practical experiences of data work in the process of school improvement in the United States. The usable data types and the collection and integration of the available data in the process of school improvement are described firstly in the main part of this dissertation. Then, the dissertation introduces the specific experience of the American schools in using data to promote school improvement in three areas, including:guiding school-wide decisions, strengthening classroom instruction and supporting struggling students. Finally, the dissertation analyzes the internal and external factors that can promote the use of the data.From the experience from America, we can learn that:to do a better data work in school, we should on the one hand collect comprehensive and high-quality data, and on the other hand uncover the information hidden behind the data, and then make wise decisions using the valuable information you got from data.This dissertation attempts to introduce the practice and experience of using data to promote the school improvement work in the United States, providing our country a reference in using data to promote school improvement. Due to differences in national conditions, we have to revise our action plan on the basis of the actual situation in China, in order to make data serve the goals of school improvement better. |
