With the growing importance of English in the economic society, our county put English curriculum in the prominent position in the process of the new round of basic education curriculum reform.The core part of English curriculum is English teaching materials.However, with the advent of the textbook diversification era, there are all sorts of textbooks around us.So we should analysis and evaluate that which version of textbook is better to conform to the requirements of English curriculum standards, to meet the demands of local teachers and students at that time, to supply more extensive and complete teaching resources, or to promote the comprehensive ability of students to use language.All the above are beneficial to the writing of English teaching materials, which make them become more reasonable and perfect.The research object of the thesis are junior English teaching materials of PEP Version and Ren’ai Version,according to the criterion of English curriculum standards(the version of 2011).Adopting to Cheng Xiaotang’s teaching evaluation theory, we will have the internal evaluation and external evaluation for the two sets of teaching materials.The internal evaluation includes language skills 、 language knowledge 、 attitude 、 strategies and cultural awareness.The external evaluation includes the conclusions of the feedback questionnaire,which makes the analysis more effective.Finally, by comparing the analysis we can make some suggestions to the writers and teachers.Through the thesis we found that the two sets of English materials reach the requirements of the criterion of English curriculum standards.By comparing, PEP Version is good at guiding listening skills, creating natural conversation atmosphere, guiding reading process step by step, guiding writing skills.In Ren’ai Version,phonetic is systematic and comprehensive. Syntax is progressive, which makes the knowledge take place repeatedly.The two sets of English materials have promoted the development of students’ cognitive to some extent. The thesis provide some advice for teachers and writers in order to promote the development of English teaching.
