Boy Scouts of America provides challenging curriculums for youth in different ages.abilities and interests. It uses flexible methods in the teaching process. It aims to improve the youth’s ability to do things for themselves and others through various interesting activities. The purpose of the Boy Scouts of America is to build desirable qualities of character, to train in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and to develop personal fitness.Speaking of the organization, Boy Scouts of America is a hierarchical organization. Top-down organizations were:the national council, regional councils, local councils, boy scout troops. Each level of organization is interrelated and has a clear division of labor. In the process of the development and implementation of the program, in addition to Boy Scouts of America’s own organizational system, the chartered organization is also a very important part. If a organization has a compatible goals as the Boy Scouts of America, the organization can apply to the Boy Scouts of America. The chartered organization can use the program of the Boy Scouts of America and manage the Scout troops directly.Speaking of the curriculums, Boy Scouts of America has three kinds of traditional curriculum:Cub Scouting,Boy Scouting,Venturing. Boys who are between six to ten years old or who are read in one to five grade can participate in Cub Scouting. Cub Scouting is further divided into four:Tiger Scout program, Wolf Scout program, Bear Scout program, Webelos Scout program.11-year-old to 18-year-old boys can participate in the Boy Scouting. The Varsity Scouting is a branch of the Boy Scouting, it adds a higher degree of difficulty and has more adventure activities to attract older teenagers.13-year-old and finished eighth grade or 14 to 20 year-old young men and women can participate in the Venturing. Sea Scouting is a branch of the Venturing, it focuses on maritime activities. The selection and preparation of the curriculum content must balance in various fields including social, leadership, health, services, outdoor activities, civic literacy and so on.Speaking of the teaching, team system, honor system and badge system are very important methods using in the teaching. In addition to these three methods, Boy Scouts of America also paid attention to the comprehensive application of the following methods:Living the ideals, belonging to a den or group activities, using advancement or recognition, involving family and home or association with adults, participating in activities, serving home and neighborhood and leadership development, wearing the uniform, character connections, personal growth, teaching others.Compared with Boy Scouts in The Republic of China period and Chinese Taiwan and Chinese Hong Kong’s boy scouts, the curriculum system of the Boy Scouts of America is more independent and complete. The education in China now is emphasis too much on acquiring knowledge while neglecting the development of students’ability and emphasis too much on intellectual development while ignoring the overall development of students. Some boys have "boy crisis" in their academic and physical.Vocational education also lack in school. In order to solve these problem,we can learn something form Boy Scouts of America.
