Comparative Analysis On The Development Of Learning Analytics

An increasing amount of impact has been cast upon modern education with the advancement of information technology. The educational circle is craving on revolutionizing the conventional teaching method in the new era since it tends to ignore the learning process. Learning analytics came into being due to this particular reason and has rapidly become a spotlight of the global educational community. Many global organizations have been trying to make contributions to this field, e.g. The International Conference on Learning Analytics & Knowledge (LAK) has been holding annually since 2011 to bring together all researchers around the world who are specialized in learning analytics. In addition, the research on learning analytics in our country has also gained much more concern during these years. Given this, a through survey of the current development of learning analytics was performed in this paper.Research methods of documentary analysis and mapping knowledge visualization analysis have been applied in this paper. After sorting out relevant literatures extracted from core database of domestic and overseas, making deep comparative studies and then presenting visualization mapping, in combination with the literature review of learning analytics, research results are concluded from different analytical perspectives including the statistics of literature, the influence webs of the countries and the authors, and trend analysis etc. All above this proved that the research on learning analytics is still in its infancy, but global influence gradually deepened. At last, this paper made a summary from the discipline construction and some existing problems of LA’s development.In general, learning analytics has a promising future. And the constant improvement of it both in theory and practice requires the efforts of all researchers.
