Currently, college students are skillful in using new media in their daily lives. To be more specifically, they habitually correspond with others through emails, look for hot topics through Weibo and send voice mails through Wechat. What is more, the notice from teachers and universities are sent from new media. In a word, the new media has penetrated into every aspect of students’ lives. And the education on the Party principles in university is no exception. Study of, research on and the education of Marxism is mainly achieved through Tertiary Education, which is responsible for the nurture of builder and success of Socialism career with Chinese characteristics. The construction of propaganda position tests whether the concerned university has practically fulfilled the tasks of publication of Party principles.New media has not only altered the traditional media,they are also changing the lifestyle and thinking pattern of the public. This raises higher requirements to the propaganda position in tertiary education, which is located at the frontier section of all educations. As the intellectual and civilized group, university students are the most active frontier users of new media. However, their current stage indicates that they are sheltered from some vicious part of the society and thus do not know the society all roundedly. Furthermore, their value systems are not mature enough to distinguish right from wrong. The above two elements determine that students are in desperate need of guidance from their tutors. Only through the close connection with the new media can the tertiary education fully display its potential in catering to and solving the confusions and doubts encountered by the college students.Since new media breaks the boundary line of spacial and temporal limitations, it poses challenges on the aspects of educational approach, content, context, and subjects. Meanwhile, it offers opportunities for the construction and up-to-time development of propaganda position. The optimization and the needs for the nurture of socialistic successor illustrates the necessity of the adoption of new media for the propaganda position construction. The feasibility of the adoption of new media in tertiary education reflects the active response and warm welcome from the students. All the above discussion clearly illustrates the fact that new media is compulsory and feasible in tertiary education. It is high time that tertiary educators explore the value of new media and look for the practical ways to realize it, with the focus on innovation.
