Mind Mapping was founded by the British educator named Tony Buzan,it showed strong practical value in various fields since it was founded. After being introduced into the field of education and teaching of China, it gradually extended to the high grade of primary school. Then, how the application effect in the high grade of primary school, in the process of application appeared what kind of problems, what optimize strategies should be put forward to solve these problems and so on were worth studying.In order to make an in-depth study on the application effect and the problem of Mind Mapping in the teaching of the high grade of primary school,this paper took Weifang city as an example,selected students and teachers in Grade Five or Six of X Primary School as the research object,and investigated through the methods of questionnaire and interview. First, through the survey this study found, the Mind Mapping, of course, had its own advantages, but it still existed some problems in the application, including teachers’ grasp of mind map was not accurate enough,students could not draw it with high quality and the Mind Mapping lacked communication function.Secondly, the study analyzed and summarized the reasons for the five aspects, the first one was teachers’ attention degree of the Mind Mapping was not enough;the second one was teachers’ professionalism of the Mind Mapping was not enough;the third one was student’s own limitation;the forth one was the popularity of Mind Mapping was not enough and the last one was the self defects of Mind Mapping. Finally, aiming at these problems and the causes, this study proposed five aspects of optimization strategy,including training teachers, developing Mind Mapping teaching model, guiding the pupils to draw the Mind Mapping scientifically, building up the cooperation mechanism between school and family, building platform for the Mind Mapping, so that it could provide some reference for the Mind Mapping to be used in the teaching process of the high grade of primary school better.
