Plenty of studies are conducted on the use of cooperative learning in English reading class. However, there are few studies that specifically deal with the evaluation of cooperative learning. This paper aims to study the evaluation of cooperative learning in high school English reading class.Research questions of the thesis are as follows.1. How does evaluation influence students’interest in cooperative learning and English reading? 2. How does evaluation influence students’English reading proficiency? Research instruments are questionnaires, interview, observation, evaluation forms and test scores. Participants of this study were two classes of students and eleven English teachers.The result shows that students of the experimental class are more confident than ever before and they are more interested in English reading and cooperative learning after evaluation was implemented. Evaluation of cooperative learning has a positive relation with students’English reading proficiency, especially communicative ability. Students’activeness, motivation and initiatives have improved a lot. The teacher approves of the importance of evaluation as well. Besides, problems and suggestions of evaluation are provided in the end of the thesis with specific examples.
