As China is a big country, there is a big difference in economy, cultural, and household welfare, medical resource, education between regions. Combined with traditional Chinese "man must be better than woman" and "class endogamy" concept, most Shanghai women choose to marry with another Shanghai men. Women’s household-registration intermarriage circle is small in Shanghai. But the openness of Shanghai women’s household-registration intermarriage circle has been improved greatly after entering 21st century. It not only means the women have more marital autonomy and more acceptances to outsiders in Shanghai, but also be like a helpless choice of women under "marriage squeeze". As there are so many obstacles for Shanghai women to choose outsiders, and the proportion of female’s exogamy has changed a lot, deep mining of the reason and social meaning behind the phenomenon is a must. The article starts from the perspective of the openness of female intermarriage circle, researches the openness change of the household-registration intermarriage circle, the female characteristics of different intermarriage choice and the factors influencing the choice, the intermarriage’ matching characteristics, and deeply analyzes the cause and potential problem of the phenomenon.The paper contains seven parts. The first chapter is the introduction, introduces the research background and related literature. The second chapter introduces the research design. The chapter sets up the research framework from concept definition, research content, and researches purpose and research significance. The third chapter mainly describes the household-registration intermarriage circle changes of Shanghai female. The forth chapter describes the women characteristics of different intermarriage choice, and explores the factors influencing the choice by modeling. The results show that age and multi-child group has positive effect on women’ cross household-registration intermarriage choice, the one who has a master’s degree or above and who values education is more likely to choose cross household-registration intermarriage. Chapter five compares the endogamy with exogamy from the perspective of marriage matching. We find that the couples involved in Shanghai women cross household-registration intermarriage are most "power couples". The sixth chapter deeply analyzes the cause, sociological meaning and potential problem of the exogamy. The last chapter is conclusion and outlook. The author summarizes the main conclusion of the paper and points out the direction for improvement in the future.
