A Group Intervention Research On Internet Addiction Of Youth

It is well-known that the 21 st century is called information age, network is the darling of this era. The rapid development and popularization of the network brings enormous chan ges to human’s life, such as enriching and facilitating the people’s life and social interaction.It becomes an indispensable part of people’s lives. However, the information society also br ings a lot of trouble, for instance internet violence, addiction and despair, negative changes of thought and behavior, health damage and spirit decrease, which caused by internet games and pornographic information. Bad network environment and public wrong cognition about the internet makes more and more people addicted to the internet. In China, internet addicti on has become a social problem which already aroused public concern and correlative study.Youngsters idolatry as a special group who surf the internet, have their own distinct ch aracteristics in aspects of psychology, knowledge structure and learning abilities. They are e nergetic, imaginative, creative, curious, and began to have self-awareness and subjective ide as. They love pursuing new things, hate being controlled. But they are not only emotionally immature and superficial, but also difficult to control emotions, and impressionable to the o utside world and their peers. Adolescent period is called the golden period of life, but the sto rm period which is the most vulnerable and turbulent. The virtual and novelty of internet att racts youngsters to devote themselves into it, which caused dependency, addiction and irrati onal use of the internet.On the basis of the previous research, the author gives a conclusion to the definition, st andard, cause, intervention model of adolescent Internet addiction. It is found that the existi ng studies of adolescent Internet addiction are mostly concentrated in psychology, education, sociology, etc., but rare in the aspects of social work and practical research. In this paper, t he author uses ecological system theory, social work theory of advantage perspective, and c ombining their entire practice process by using the methods of interview and observation, re analyze the cause of adolescent Internet addiction. Furthermore, the detox group of addicted adolescent is established to help them gradually get rid of internet addiction and return to n ormal life following social work ethics and values and using social work’s theory and skills.The study found that group working has practical values that it decreases the degree of addiction and controls the surfing time length into a normal range. Besides, the relationship between the adolescent and family, teachers and peers runs virtuously. Consequently, group working is of great value in the adolescent social work. At the same time, the theory of soci al work in the analysis and solution to the problems adheres to the philosophy of people-ori ented and respect to perso’s values and dignity, which can promote the further growth and d evelopment of human.
