Problems And Countermeasures Of Voluntary Service Activities Of University Students

In recent years, volunteer service philanthropy of our country has got strong support from the government, universities and many other kinds of institutions and the development presents a thriving scene.As the main force of volunteer service, university students make a great contribution. However, university students still face up with lots of problems in the process of volunteer service.How to promote the sustainable development of volunteer service activities of our country has become the focus of attention of relevant researchers. This article analyzes the progress and the current status of the volunteer service activities of university students through literature analytic method and conducts the investigation and research to the relevant organizers, managers and volunteers of H University through case analysis method and interviewing method to further clarify the existing problems of the volunteer service activities of university students. Among them, the problems from social dimension are the unbalanced regional development, the lack of relevant legal protection,etc. The problems from university dimension are the lack of funds and adequate and exact matched service projects. And the problems from individual dimension are the lack of service capacity, lack of stability, the impure motivation,etc. On this basis, the author analyze the causes of the problems above respectively from the social dimension,the university dimension and the individual dimension.The lower degree of information and network, more single service projects and finite capacity of resource mobilization are the main factors from the social dimension affecting the effectiveness of voluntary service activities. The lack of professional training, finite training capacity, inadequate attention degree, inadequate organization strength and the incentive reward system is not perfect are the factors from university dimension. Not profound understanding of the spirit of volunteer service, poor subjective initiative and limited time and energy are the factors from individual dimension. Based on the above, this article recommends: At the social dimension, the government should strengthen efforts to publicize the spirit of volunteerism, enhance network construction of university volunteer service organization, speed up the legislative pro-gress of the voluntary service, increase the incentive policy support, innovative service contents and expand service areas. At the university dimension, universities should help student volunteers clear the concept of voluntary service, emphasis on service team’s building and actively adopt incentive measures. At the individual dimension,university students should deeply understand the spirit of volunteerism, enhance service awareness, improve the professional quality and service capability and strengthen communication and sharing of service experience. Only through the joint efforts of the government, universities and individuals,can we ensure the sustainable development of voluntary service activities.
