A Study Of The Civic Education Of Chinese College Students From The Perspective Of "the Chinese Dream"

"The Chinese Dream", which is based on a series of scientific theories, puts forward a new way of thinking in line with China’s national conditions. Integrating "the Chinese Dream" into the Chinese college students’ civic education is an important embodiment of the combination of theory and practice. It Is the vane of the reform of education system, and a better way to cultivate the needs of modern citizens.Through studying the definitions of "the Chinese Dream" and civic education, analyzing the opportunities and challenges the civic education of Chinese college students are faced with and drawing inspirations from the experiences of foreign civic education, this thesis tries to find an effective approach that is rooted in China’s civic education."The Chinese Dream" shows the direction and creates an atmosphere for civic education. Attaching importance to the civic education of college students reflects not only the need for constructing socialist market economy, democracy and harmonious society, but also the need for cultivating qualified modern citizens. Due to the gap between the realities of current civic education of college students and the requirements of "the Chinese Dream", combined with the problems with college management and college students, civic education in China has encountered a lot of problems and frustration. Compared with the civic education systems in the U.S., Japan and Singapore, China’s civic education system has yet to be developed. Therefore, China needs to learn from the successful theories and practical experiences of foreign civic education and form its own "3s" strategies based on the national conditions, namely, to find new approaches for the civic education of college students from three aspects:school education, social guidance and self-management. From the point of view of school education, colleges and universities should pay close attention to civic education, and penetrate into the daily teaching activities civic education contents; from the social point of view, all sectors of society should make great efforts to create the atmosphere for civic education, using the power of social media, extending civic education in every corner of the society; from self-management point of view, we should guide students to integrate their personal development with national development, and to look for their own path of development. Only through the co-efforts of school, society and college students themselves can college students become promoters of "the Chinese Dream".
