An Investigation Of E-learning’s Current Situation At Primary School In Suzhou City

With both quantitative and qualitative research method, this study looks into the current situation of the e-learning at Primary School in Suzhou City. On the basis of the literature review at home and abroad, the writer made two questionnaires: "The questionnaire on e-learning’s current situation at Primary School in Suzhou City(for students) " and "The questionnaire on e-learning’s current situation at Primary School in Suzhou City(for teachers) " to investigate 5263 students and 1117 teachers of 28 primary schools in the urban area of Suzhou(includes Gusu District、Wuzhong District、Xiangcheng District、New&Hi-tech Zone, uqiu District、Industrial District and Wujiang District). What’s more, the writer made four interview outline:” interview outline of focus group(for teachers)”,” individual interview outline(for managers)”,” individual / group interview outline(for teachers)” and ”group interview outline(for students)” to interview 12 students and 43 teachers of four primary schools in Industrial District and Gusu District. On the basis of the collection, collation and analysis of the data, this paper trys to describe the development of e-learning at Primary School in Suzhou, identifies the factors affecting it and trys to propose some resolution strategies.The results showed that:(1) primary school teachers and students in Suzhou City have a high level of awareness of e-learning and the diverse functional requirements, but the teacher’s technical operational capacity of e-learning needs to be strengthened. What’s more, the overall technology environment should be improved and concerns about the information security is in the general level;(2) the development frequency of e-learning’s resources in Suzhou is low and the development motivation is relatively limited. In spite of this, the resource has a abundant form and a wide variety, but the practicability and applicability is not high;(3) e-learning can’t adapt to all the curricula and students and the actual frequency of use in the school teaching is low,but most teachers and students agree that e-learning can promote students’ emotional development and ability.According to the attribution analysis and interview data, this paper propose some strategies:(1)the relevant departments can increase the investment and publicity to create a good atmosphere for public opinion and achieve a high-quality resources and equipment;(2)different areas can increase the cooperation and exchanges to promote the overall balanced development;(3)different subjects,such as technical personnel, schools, teachers and students should increase the exchanges and cooperation to promote the integration of technology and teaching;(4)the school should expand practical training and guidance more actively, improve the use of e-learning gradually to promote the actual and deep integration between the e-learning and teaching;(5) teachers and students can learn by doing which means that they can improve their own skills and positive thinking in the practice of e-learning, and it may promote the integration between the e-learning and the primary school classroom.
