The Farmers’ Emotional Transformation And The Construction Of Rural Social Order

In to interpret a variety of angles of agrarian revolution, emotional factor which is easy to change and difficult to collect has not been paid great attention in the mainstream of Chinese academic circles. However, radical concept and image will be converted to a purposeful and influential action,it not only needs good external structure conditions, also need to implement a lot of emotion work around part of the leaders and their followers. Indeed, the case of land reform can really be such a text, it expounds that how the mobilized emotional energy could help to make the change of rural social order. So,In this paper, the land reformational oral history of 13 farmers who come from Guanmiao Village in Changde City,Hunan Province are regarded as the research object, at the same time, the author try to introduce the emotion to examine the relationship between the farmers’ emotional transformation and the construction of rural social order during the period of land reform.The study found that the farmers’feelings about the extreme conservative, abnormal concept of land, the traditional family consciousness, theocratic concept maintain the balance of the traditional Confucian order, before the land reform in the Guanmiao village. Obviously, these feelings hindered the newborn regime to administrate rural directly,it is not conducive to the formation of new rural order. Therefore, to change the original social structure and social order of the country, the communist party of China must apply the radical violent revolution means, combining with the class education and class struggle, using the integrated techniques such as organization, discourse, rituals, to transform farmers traditional emotions. Through the efforts of class, reliance on class, and the national identity have been taken root in the heart of farmers and continue to strengthen, villages are integrated into the national class society, the traditional rural Confucian order has been broken, the class order has been established in the rural areas and continue to play a strong role. However, the communist party of China deliberately ignored the fact that the country suffered floods every year, farmers, the overall of extreme poverty,this is the local speciality. This is also why the traditional emotional return of farmers and with the class emotion interweaving, the rural Confucian order back and with class order blending after land reform.Therefore, this paper argues that the emotional transformation is propellant which is used to construct class order, not the deciding factor. In addition, the research of this paper is also the response about obtaining land- supporting the new regime. Although the logic of interest-political told the fact that universal law of success of the land reform,to a certain extent,it ignored the particularity of the place. Although GuanMiao village just be a special case,it does not enough to explain the details of land reform,at least, it provides two directions:Firstly, we must pay attention to the particularity of place; Secondly, paying attention to the function and the value of emotion of land reform not only enrich and deepen the understanding of land reform.
