Symbols Construction And Pear Village Group Identity Study

Symbols are abstract expression of the meaning of things. It is the result of people’s subjective construct, which rooted in the collective memories. On one hand, it is emotional presentation of materials and perceivable form; on the other hand, it is a spirit externalization which has a symbolic significance. This study selected a typical village---Pear Village,as a local symbol of field point.It used Baozhu Li symbol as a path to understanding the villagers’group identity.Through such aspects of theinvestigation as villagers collective memory narrative, the villagers’classification by themselves and BaoZhu Pear Culture Festival held bygovernment,the study focuses on villages identity about the group of Pear Village and the influence of infiltrated government to villages identity about the group of Pear Village; At the same time, it analyzes the crisis of group identity brought by the Reconstruction of urbanization Changes and reconstructed roads of group identity.The study find that under the impact of urbanization, pear village has embarked on the road of rapid modernization. The historic symbol of Baozhu pear gradually printed on commercial signs and appears in the daily life of villagers in a new form of expression. According to current ideas and anticipation of interests,the localgovernment holds cultural festivals to increase modern culture connotation of Pear symbol,so that it has become the symbol of the village resources and then make this symbolic resources become a symbolic capital,which will win the right to speak of this regional economy. The urbanization broke up the original community order in Pear Village, which caused an identity crisis, but it also brought opportunities of development for the village. Based on rational considerations, the villagers took the opportunity to strengthen ties with the outside world and gave to the village positive reviews, trying to find a balance in the chaos. Under the building of government and villagers,Baozhu Pear symbol shows a new vitality and becomes a collective memoryof the village in the new century which promotes the group identityof the village.
