Under the background of diversity around the world, multicultural education has been widely concerned about from these years. If the teachers have multicultural knowledge,form a multicultural education thinking and show some teaching means of multicultural education on the practice ability,then multicultural education will achieve an ideal effect.Obviously, training the multicultural teaching ability of pre-service teachers is the key for the multicultural education implementing.The United States began to implement the multicultural education in the 1960s due to the civil rights movement,and spent around 60 years developing it to maturity, there are lots of advanced results at present. This paper is based on the predecessors’research experience, taking multicultural quality training of pre-service teachers as the breakthrough point, literature analysis was used to analyze previous researches;historical analysis method was used to master the development and status of multicultural quality training of pre-service teachers and case analysis was used to find out some specific measures about multicultural quality training of pre-service teachers in the Michigan university. Through partitioning the 1960-1980 as development period and 1990 years later as maturity period, to analyze the multicultural quality training of pre-service teachers in the United States, including political economic, cultural background, its training goal and training methods. Training methods including courses, education practice, other activities and creations of multicultural environment. Four enlightenments were gotten from summarizing the American multicultural education experience of pre-service teachers and analyzing the two periods:firstly, setting some specific targets of pre-service teachers’quality training;Secondly, strengthening the building of multicultural curriculum; Thirdly, combining the practice education and social practice;Fourthly, creating a multicultural atmosphere. This study tries to improve the multicultural quality training of pre-service teachers in China and to provide theoretical guidance and practical basis, so as to provide some possible enlightenments and references to the multicultural quality training of pre-service teachers in our country.
