Studies On The Risk Consciousness From College Students To Invasion Of Alien Species In Guangxi And Its Management Strategies

Invasion of alien species is an international issue referred ecological security, which has arose widely attention by many scientists, relevant international organizations and Governments. Guangxi is the southern gateway to Asean in China, so that preventing invasion of exotic pests become a difficult task with the establishment of China-Asean free trade area and the forming of Pan-Beibu Gulf Economic Belt. Therefore, it is urgent to improve the risk awareness of public to invasion of alien species, in order to guarantee the development of agriculture and forestry and ecological security in Guangxi,.The method of questionnaire was used to investigate the risk consciousness from college students to invasion of alien species in Guangxi University, Guangxi University for Nationalities, Guangxi Teachers Education University and Guangxi University of Finance and Economics. The college students in the survey can be divided into five groups based on different colleges, different grades, liberal arts and sciences, agricultural and non-agricultural majors, different research direction of agronomy. Difference and problem of the risk consciousness from college students to invasion of alien species was analyzed, and management strategies were also provided. The main results are as follows.(1) Basic knowledge, biological characteristics, policy management and the event of scientific research were investigated. Scores of the four aspects mentioned above were 3.55-4.08,4.2-5.01,2-2.7,0.9-1.72 (total score of each aspects was 10), respectively. The rates of the students who are willingness to learn the basic knowledge of biological invasion and who supports biological invasion was added to the public elective courses in College are 70% and 50%. The rates of the students who are initiative to learn the references about biological invasion in library was 20%.(2) In the aspect of understanding the basic knowledge of biological invasion, Guangxi University of Finance and Economics is outstanding. However, Guangxi University are better than other Universities in other three aspects. The senior students are better than junior students except for the basic knowledge. The students of liberal arts are superior to science in policy management and the event of scientific research, but it is on the contrary at the basic knowledge and biological characteristics. The senior students who are majored in Agronomy scored in biological characteristics are similar to the junior students and better than the junior students in other aspects. The students who are majored in plant protection are obviously higher than in horticulture except for the policy management.(3) The main approaches of college students to obtain the information of biological invasion are internet, TV, books, papers, SMS, respectively.Results indicated that risk consciousness from college students to biological invasion are weak. Meanwhile, they know little about important biological invasion disaster. They have no good idea about how to deal with the alien pests. College students have strong willingness to learn knowledge of biological invasion, but learning initiative is poor. The awareness of biological invasion in Guangxi university is better than that of other universities. The senior students are slightly better than junior student. There are no obvious difference between students in liberal arts and science. Agriculture class students are superior to non-agricultural students. There are significant differences between students who are majored in plant protection and horticulture.Several proposals was suggested to improve the risk consciousness from college students to biological invasion. (1) Knowledge education of biological invasion was paid attention before entered into university. (2) Education reform of liberal education in the field of biological invasion in colleges. (3) Providign much more opportunity for teachers to learn. (4) Risk consciousness of biological invasion was investigated and directed education was carried out for freshman. (5) Internet, television and other means of publicity needs to reinforce for propagandizing the harmfulness of biological invasion.
